Jacobson Receives ‘Excellence Award’ for Packaging Design and Layout

Back to Success Stories

Challenge:

Heinz is the most global U.S.-based food company, with a world-class portfolio of powerful brands holding number-one and number-two market positions in more than 50 countries. Heinz Company was looking for a partner to promote a new product launch for their Heinz ketchup line. The new product was to be an ergonomic squeeze bottle designed especially for kids that required a shrink sleeve label, a technology that was new at the time, as well as a display box. The challenge required a packaging partner who couldcomplete the entire packaging project on time for product launch schedule.

Solutions:

Jacobson assisted in the design of a full body wrap label for the Heinz colored ketchup product launch. Jacobson provided a full range of packaging services for the project: state-of-the-art full bottle contoured sleeve labeling, temperature controlled label storage, packaging display and store model design and construction, multi-packing, and other value-added packaging services. Jacobson also secured, procured and financed a half-million dollars of packaging equipment for the project.

After designing the dedicated production line and installing the equipment, Jacobson Staffing was utilized to provide reliable, trained labor for a three-shift operation that ran 24/7 at project start-up to meet the launch deadline. This allowed Jacobson to flex labor up or down based on production and market demand. At the same time, Jacobson operated a 230,000 square foot dedicated warehouse and packaging facility for Heinz in Des Moines, Iowa and Mount Joy, Iowa and provided dedicated shuttle service and outbound transportation for both.
